Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect at the first session?

The first session is an assessment that will typically take 1 1/2 hours to gather important information and to hear your story.  If you find that the assistance at Hope Family Counseling is a fit for you we will set up additional appointments.

What can I expect from subsequent sessions?

After the first two to three sessions we will have a good idea of what the issues are and we will collaborate on setting up specific goals that we will work on together to achieve.  Once the goals are delineated, we will revisit and evaluate them on a monthly basis to ensure that we are working toward acceptable solutions.

What is the typical structure of a session?

It is typical that we open with a passage of Scripture and the counselor prays for God’s wisdom and leading as we discuss pertinent issues.  Toward the end of the session homework is assigned and a subsequent session is scheduled.

What is the reason for homework?

We at Hope Family Counseling believe that a great portion of the work occurs outside of the counseling session.  As we meet in session issues are addressed, discussed and salient topics are taught.  The homework is meant to give the client an opportunity to practice many of the solutions that are learned during session.

What kind of payment options are accepted?

Cash, checks and major credit card payments are accepted.  There will be a $20.00 return check charge for any negligent checks.

Does Hope Family Counseling accept insurance?

Due to the continuing reduction of reimbursement by insurance companies Hope Family Counseling is only able to accept Medical Mutual Insurance. Payment is expected at the beginning of every session.
